Stockholm Coffee : Aeropress bar & V60

Of course I couldn’t visit Stockholm without checking out some coffee bars. I didn’t have the time to visit them all. I’d probably go in a caffeine coma, but there were two places that I really liked.

They are both located in the trendy neighborhood Söder. The first one we visited was Johan & Nyström. The interior really screamed coffee roaster: with a great use of color and material they managed to give it a tropical feel. This concept store invites you into the world of coffee and brewing.

I have to admit, the moment I read about their Aeropress bar I got really curious, since this was the first time I heard about it. I know Scandinavians like brewing with all different kind of methods but I haven’t seen an Aeropress bar before.

The barista explained to us that at Johan & Nyström they find it very important to educate the customers. They even organise lessons about brewing, roasting and tea. I really liked this. It was more than an other coffee bar: it was a place where you can learn more about your favorite thing of the day.

On their brand new website you can learn more about their assortment of coffee, tea and equipment. Besides that they explain a thing or two about direct trade. http://johanochnystrom.se/ But don’t be shy if you are there to have a cup of coffee. Try one of their great Kenya’s and ask the barista to explain you how brewing works. It only takes one question.

Close to the concept store is a very cosy coffee shop that roasts their own coffee.  The coffee shop itself might be cosy but the business behind drop coffee isn’t small. As you can see on their website, they roast a variety of beans and  sell all the equipment you need online.

They train their baristas very well. You could tell from all the awards on the wall. Yet it was clear that they loved their job and especially brewing.

You can try their coffee in one of the two coffee shops. Really worth the visit as well. So if you are planning on going to Stockholm, make sure you go for a few days because they have a lot of good coffee shops. Unless you want to be high on coffee.
