Great Lake Swimmers

The Great Lake Swimmers concert made me want to cuddle next to a fire on a camping during a summer sunset. That was exactly the vibe I had during their gig in Botanique. It was my first time at the venue and I had a wonderful evening.

It was striking how humble the band was. Singer Tony Dekker thanked the audience a thousand times. There was no sign of the band-vs-crowd distance you can often feel at seated concerts.
The lighting was very simple, but worked well for the occasion. Especially during ‘Moving Pictures Silent Films’ the single spotlight on the singer made it a beautiful and intimate moment. It was the ideal first Botanique concert.

ps: the opening band Barzin was surprisingly good too. Check out their site here.
