Knödelsuppe & Sachertorte

We wouldn’t be Strutter View if we didn’t give you our favourite places to eat and drink during our city trips.
Here are Vienna’s finest addresses.

The winter market at the Rathausplatz is perfect for Wienerwurst (sausages), Glühwein (warm wine) and other delicious yet fattening Austrian products.

Café Central (Herrengasse 14) is a must-do. It was one of Trotzki’s absolute favourites and it’s easy to see why. The interior is enchanting and the pastry is excellent. We had the famous Sachertorte with a Maria Theresia (coffee with orange liquor) and an Apfelstrudel.

We accidentally bumped into Aera (Gonzagagasse 11), a bar/restaurant with a jazzy vibe. I had a Leberknödelsuppe (liver dumpling soup). Don’t judge before you tried it, because it’s actually a perfect dish for cold weather.

If you want the best view of Vienna, have an extraordinary cocktail and enjoy pure luxury Le Loft at the roof top of the Sofitel Hotel (Praterstraße 1) is your address. My absinth infused cocktail was a direct trip to paradise.
