Taking it to the streets

If you’re hearing Rio de Janeiro and you automatically think about nothing but carnival, beaches and samba… too bad for you! The exhibition ‘A Rua’ is taking you to the streets and even to the favelas of Rio to show you its roughness and creativity. The city is holding a mirror to itself and the reflection isn’t always as pretty or perfectly formed as the exotic feathered dancers.

The Antwerp contemporary arts museum M HKA is definitely in my top 5 of best Belgian museums. This enormous installation of bird images looked really cool. It added a third dimension to the 2D images. I’m also a big fan of the artwork with contrasting weapons.

You’re only paying 1 euro if you’re under the age of 26, so you’ve got no excuse for not going to A Rua. Enjoy!
