Manga Dance: TeZukA

Just to be clear: this picture wasn’t taken during the TeZukA performance, but during this year’s La Cambre fashion show. Nevertheless I think it’s suitable.

Ok, back to business! The contemporary dance performance TeZukA by Eastman, the new dance company of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, is definitely in my top 5 of best dance performances ever. It was captivating, original and technically impeccable.

The inspiration for this project was the comic artist Osamu Tezuka and his most famous character Astro Boy. In a mixture of dance, martial arts, projections, live music and Japanese calligraphy Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui took you to another world that holds a mirror to ours.

Although there are no more tickets for TeZukA in deSingel, I really recommend you put yourself on the waiting list. It’s an experience you’ll never forget.
