A glimpse of SÁGA by Dez Mona feat. BOX
Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit the soundcheck of Dez Mona featuring BOX (Baroque Orchestration X) for their performance of SÁGA. Dez Mona is well known for their dramatical and theatrical music. In this video by Valerie Baeyens you’ll catch a part of one of their new songs from SÁGA.
During the 20 minutes I was there I heard parts of their songs. I really got a good impression of their new show. Even though they weren’t wearing their costumes made by Veronique Branquincho and the light installation by Jan Pauwels wasn’t ready yet. Warm music with a sober yet theatrical decor due to the oasis of little lights. They called it a field of lights. What I like a lot is their use of vocals and classical instruments.
The reason I was there was because I had to take pictures of Gregory Frateur for our local newspaper. He’s the lead singer and lives in my neighborhood. I was really pleased when he told me I could come during their soundcheck in the Flemish Opera. This is such a great venue to take pictures.
Their performance was during the TEDxFlanders conference.TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading.
