Popeye Mash-Up With Salmon
One of the good things about cartoons is that we cherish them through our lives, we might not still watch them but we sure do admire them. I remember I started eating spinach after watching Popeye. I even used to tell my parents that I would eat spinach a lot because one day, I would become really strong, like him! Now, I’m a young woman and I obviously don’t watch Popeye any more, but I still like spinach a lot.
A really easy recipe to use spinach in your weekly menu, is this one. And oh, it’s very mouthwatering too! You don’t need a lot of ingredients, and you can easily have your own twist to this recipe as well.
For 2 persons I used:
For the sauce:
- 3 shallots
- 2 celery-stalks
- 2 cups of white wine, I used the Undurraga Aliwen Chardonnay
- 2 cups fish stock
- 2 cups of cream
- some fresh thyme
- a couple of tablespoons grain mustard (add to your own taste)
- 1 / 2 lemon
For the puree:
- +- 10 big potatoes
- 100 g fresh spinach leaves
- some butter
- some milk
- add to your own taste salt, pepper and nutmeg
For the salmon:
- 2 large pieces of salmon (pieces of approx. 250 grams per person)
- black pepper
- butter
Now just follow my directions and enjoy!

I’m strong to the finish, cause I eats me spinach.
