Soyez Les Bienvenus

It’s the end of a busy week and I wanted to go for a drink at a special bar called De Zomerfabriek. During the summer the city organizes a lot of events to entertain their inhabitants. They call it the summer of Antwerp. The bar is located in an old factory in my neighborhood Zurenborg.

I wasn’t quite sure how to get there so we had to walk  a while until we found the entrance. Despite of the weather it had a holiday feel to it. There’s an outside/inside bar, an outside movie theatre, a lounge, etc. Unfortunately they were closing up the bar so we couldn’t get a drink but a big truck filled with junk caught my eye so we decided to go and have a look.

Apparently there is an exhibition near the bar. This month it’s all about immigrating : “Soyez Les Bienvenus”. They did a great job creating an atmosphere that reflects on the hard part of trying to leave your own country when you don’t have permission. All thanks to the great use of textures, photographs and video’s.

It’s worth the walk so make sure to go and have a look before it closes.
