Dutch Discovery
Belgium’s national holiday is celebrated, as usual, on the 21st of July. It is the day when the first King of the Belgians, took the constitutional oath as king. So basically, this means that on this day, the shops, banks and post offices are closed. That’s why most Belgians visit our friendly neighbours: the Dutchies.
At the last moment, my boyfriend and I decided to go on a trip to Maastricht. We walked around for a couple of hours because none of us have ever been there before, and suddenly, in a small distance I noticed the “Douwe Egberts café”.
For all the non Belgian or Dutch readers: Douwe Egberts is a Dutch corporation that processes and trades coffee, tea, and other groceries.
You can actually compare this place with a cheaper version of Starbucks. The interior was very cosy and modern. The beautiful lights attracted me to stay and have a delicious cup of coffee. Like I said, their coffees are made with regular Douwe Egberts coffee, but you still have a lot of choice. And if you prefer tea: no worries, there’s a lot of choice for you too!
I went for a regular latte, which was better than expected, especially at this price! They have a really good value for money menu, which is absolutely not the case at Starbucks. Maybe we should exchange our overpriced Starbucks with a totally affordable “Douwe Egberts Café”… What do you think?
You should try it yourself!
